Open when
you prayed and felt nothing
You stood there, said every word, and felt nothing. Then you walked away wondering why you even bother.
Feelings come and go, and they were never the thing that made your prayer count. The Prophet ﷺ said that the most beloved deed to Allah is the one done regularly, even if it is small (Bukhari 6464). Showing up on a flat day is exactly that.
He once took Mu’adh by the hand and said, “By Allah, I love you.” Then he taught him a du’a to say after every prayer, asking Allah for help to remember Him, thank Him and worship Him well (Abu Dawud 1522, sahih). He did not ask for a feeling. He asked for help, and you can ask for the same.
Say
اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
Allahumma a’inni ‘ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ‘ibadatik
O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You and to worship You well.
Abu Dawud 1522 · Sahih · Taught by the Prophet ﷺ to Mu’adh
Your step for today
After your next prayer, stay seated for one minute and say this du’a slowly, once. That is enough for today.
